CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao del Norte — Security forces in Cotabato City are preparing for the BARMM Chief Minister election on October 30, 2026, with the 6th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Central leading an inspection of security operations in the city on Tuesday, October 27.
The ocular inspection was led by Brigadier General Edgar L. Catu, who heads both the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central. Police Colonel Jibin M. Bongcayao, City Director of the Cotabato City Police Office, and members of the 6ID Division General Staff joined him, the division's public affairs office said.
The activity was aimed at keeping security forces ready to respond to potential threats and emerging security concerns in Cotabato City before, during and after the vote, and at strengthening coordination between the Army and the police.
Catu said the division and the task force will work with the PNP, the BARMM government, local government units and other stakeholders "to prevent peace spoilers from attempting to disrupt the process." He also asked residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
"Let us work together, regardless of political differences, to sustain peace, unity, and development in the Bangsamoro region," said Major General Jose Vladimir R. Cagara, acting commander of the Western Mindanao Command.
The command said it remains committed to strengthening security operations and inter-agency cooperation to preserve peace gains throughout BARMM.
