Major General Leonardo I. Peña received a formal military send-off on November 2, 2026, as the Philippine Army's 11th Infantry "Alakdan" Division marked the conclusion of his tenure with a Sunset Parade and Review at the newly established Alakdan Parade Ground inside Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista, Barangay Busbus, Jolo, Sulu.
Officials from Sulu and Basilan Attend the Send-Off
According to the 11th Infantry Division's Public Affairs Office, the ceremony drew Peña's family and friends alongside civilian stakeholders from Sulu and Basilan, as well as the division's officers, enlisted personnel, and civilian workforce.
Sulu Vice Governor Abdusakur M. Tan was among the distinguished guests, along with municipal mayors from across Sulu, representatives from Basilan, other local officials, and the commanders of the 1102nd and 1103rd Infantry Brigades, the 11ID noted.
Peña Delivers Farewell Remarks to the Division
In his parting address, Peña urged the soldiers under his former command to remain anchored in their duty to God, country, and people — whether serving as commanders or subordinates.
"As I leave you behind, remember that you are being molded as good Army soldiers. Once again, let me remind you that as leaders and commanders, you should lead with bravery according to your commitment in service to God, our country and our people. As followers, do not follow blindly. You should follow according to your commitment in service to God, our country and our people," Peña said.
Plaques Presented to Peña and His Spouse
The 11th Infantry Division presented a Command Plaque to Peña in recognition of his leadership as division commander and Joint Task Force Orion commander, according to the 11ID Public Affairs Office. A separate Plaque of Appreciation was also conferred upon Mrs. Neri Peña during the same ceremony.
