A coordinated anti-narcotics campaign by Philippine National Police units resulted in the confiscation of more than 4 kilograms of suspected shabu worth ₱27,318,320.00 during simultaneous operations conducted on April 25, 2026, across two provinces.

Three individuals, including multiple high-value targets, were apprehended during the twin raids that spanned from Zamboanga City to Leyte province. The operations also yielded a .45 caliber firearm and various drug paraphernalia, representing a major breakthrough in ongoing anti-illegal drug efforts.

Zamboanga Operation Targets Major Drug Network

Police operatives launched their first strike at 8:40 PM along Nangka Drive in Barangay Baliwasan, Zamboanga City, conducting a precision buy-bust operation against a prominent drug personality.

The coordinated effort involved multiple law enforcement agencies working in tandem. Personnel from Police Stations 6 and 7 joined forces with the City Police Drug Enforcement Unit and the 2nd City Mobile Force Company. The operation received additional support from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Zamboanga City office and the Tactical Operations Wing – Western Mindanao of the Philippine Air Force.

Investigators recovered approximately 2,800 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride with an estimated street value of ₱19,040,000.00. The raid also netted buy-bust money and a sling bag containing various drug-related implements.

Albuera Raid Compounds Daily Success

The second phase of the operation commenced at 11:38 PM in Barangay Damulaan, Albuera, Leyte, where joint personnel executed another buy-bust operation with precision timing.

Officers from the Albuera Municipal Police Station collaborated with members of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Leyte Police Provincial Office to apprehend two additional suspects, including another high-value individual.

This secondary operation yielded approximately 1,217.4 grams of suspected shabu with a calculated value of ₱8,278,320.00. Beyond the illegal narcotics, authorities also confiscated marked money and a .45 caliber pistol, adding firearms charges to the drug-related violations.

Strategic Intelligence Operations Drive Success

Both successful raids demonstrate the effectiveness of the Philippine National Police's intelligence-driven approach under Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.'s leadership. The operations reflect the organization's commitment to the Focused Agenda on police transformation and enhanced operational capabilities.

Extensive surveillance work and intelligence gathering preceded both operations, allowing law enforcement to identify targets and analyze their operational patterns. This methodical approach enabled authorities to maximize the effectiveness of their coordinated strikes against established drug distribution networks.

The Enhanced Managing Police Operations and Integrity Monitoring framework continues to provide operational guidance, emphasizing sustained anti-illegal drug campaigns across all nationwide field units.

Leadership Reinforces Anti-Drug Stance

Police General Nartatez reiterated the organization's steadfast commitment to dismantling criminal networks that pose threats to Filipino communities nationwide.

"We remain firm in our commitment to dismantle drug networks that continue to destroy lives and communities. Patuloy ang ating malakas na kampanya laban sa ilegal na droga upang maprotektahan ang kapayapaan at kaligtasan ng mamamayan," Nartatez declared.

The statement reinforces the PNP's determination to maintain intensive anti-drug operations while prioritizing the protection and security of law-abiding citizens across all communities.

Legal Procedures and Evidence Handling

All three arrested individuals and confiscated materials remain in the custody of their respective operating units, ensuring proper documentation and evidence preservation protocols are followed throughout the legal process.

The seized narcotics will undergo comprehensive laboratory testing to verify composition and determine accurate street values. Prosecutors are preparing to file charges against the suspects under Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The recovered firearm from the Leyte operation will be subjected to detailed ballistics analysis to determine potential connections to other criminal activities. The suspects face additional charges under firearms regulations and provisions of the Revised Penal Code.

Inter-Agency Cooperation Enhances Effectiveness

The participation of multiple agencies in both operations illustrates the government's comprehensive strategy for combating drug-related crimes. The successful coordination between PNP units, PDEA offices, and Philippine Air Force components demonstrates improved inter-agency collaboration.

The involvement of the Tactical Operations Wing – Western Mindanao in the Zamboanga operation highlights the military's supportive role in civilian law enforcement, particularly in regions where drug trafficking organizations maintain significant operational presence.

Collaboration between local police units and provincial forces ensures consistent operational standards and procedures across different jurisdictional boundaries, maximizing enforcement effectiveness.

Presidential Support Drives Campaign Momentum

These operations support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to intensify campaigns against illegal drugs and firearms trafficking. The current administration's approach emphasizes balanced strategies combining enforcement efforts with rehabilitation programs.

The PNP continues promoting public confidence through its "Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman" initiative, highlighting fast, honest, and responsive service delivery to communities.

The operations demonstrate the organization's enhanced capability to execute sophisticated multi-jurisdictional campaigns while maintaining public trust and confidence in law enforcement institutions.

The combined seizure of more than 4 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine worth over ₱27 million represents substantial disruption to drug distribution networks operating across Mindanao and Visayas regions.
