The Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) of Negros Oriental, Inc. celebrates its 58th anniversary on Saturday, September 12, 2026, marking nearly six decades of youth formation, leadership development, and community service rooted in Christian values, according to the organization.
The milestone anniversary is being observed at the YMCA Conference Hall in Talay, Dumaguete City — the same grounds where the organization has built one of the province's most established multi-purpose community facilities.
Founded in 1968, Grown Into a Community Institution
YMCA Negros Oriental was established in 1968 and has since expanded well beyond its early role as a sports and recreation center. The organization said it has grown into a hub for youth leadership, ecumenical fellowship, education, family programs, and Christian community service over the course of 58 years.
The organization traces its philosophical foundations to the Paris Basis of 1855, which calls on YMCA members worldwide to unite in faith in Jesus Christ and work together in extending His Kingdom. According to YMCA Negros Oriental, that Christian framework continues to guide its programs and its commitment to serving people regardless of background.
The organization's stated mission encompasses promoting the physical, mental, and spiritual welfare of the youth; developing well-balanced Christian personalities; strengthening understanding among people; encouraging active participation in church and community life; and promoting respect for human dignity and the Golden Rule.
Programs Spanning Leadership, Sports, Faith, and Livelihood
According to the organization, YMCA Negros Oriental currently offers a broad slate of programs, including leadership development, community youth clubs, capability development, student and youth conferences, ecumenical and interfaith activities, development tourism, camps, sports and recreation, children's workshops, fitness and dance, networking, community organizing, cooperative development, and youth network formation.
Its facilities are located along Jose Romero Road, Talay, Dumaguete City, and are made available to families, organizations, schools, churches, and businesses. The YMCA said the site hosts seminars, trainings, retreats, family gatherings, and other special occasions throughout the year.
Facilities Available at the Talay Complex
The YMCA's Jose Romero Road complex houses a Guest House, Conference Hall, multifunction room, board room, swimming pool, pickleball courts, pavilion, children's playground, camping and barbecue areas, a sports and recreational park, and spaces for events ranging from corporate meetings to community retreats, the organization said.
Institutional membership is also available for corporations, businesses, non-governmental organizations, cooperatives, schools, civic clubs, churches, religious groups, and people's organizations that wish to support YMCA programs and access its facilities.
58th Anniversary Membership Promo Runs Until September 19
To mark its 58th year, YMCA Negros Oriental launched an Anniversary Promo from August 18 to September 19, 2026, offering significantly reduced membership fees and facility access rates, according to the organization.
The promo includes a 50-percent discount on Family Life Membership, bringing the fee down from ₱5,000 to ₱2,500, and a 50-percent discount on Individual Life Membership, reduced from ₱3,000 to ₱1,500. A 50-percent discount on the use of selected facilities — including the swimming pool, pickleball courts, pavilion, and children's playground — is also available during designated weekdays and hours.
Additionally, the organization offered free YMCA Life Membership to qualified individuals whose birthday fell on August 18, which marked the promo's launch date.
The YMCA said every membership purchased during the promo period helps sustain programs that develop young leaders and strengthen communities across the province.
Vision 2030 Charts the Organization's Next Chapter
Beyond the anniversary celebration, YMCA Negros Oriental said it is looking ahead through a strategic roadmap it calls Vision 2030 — a forward-looking plan to continue building what the organization describes as stronger, healthier, and more compassionate communities in Negros Oriental.
The organization is calling on families, young people, businesses, schools, churches, and civic groups to become members and support its mission heading into the next decade of service.
