The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) has designated Dumaguete City as one of its official examination centers for the 2026 cadet intake, making it more convenient for aspiring military officers from Negros Oriental to pursue their dreams of joining the country's premier defense institution.
In an announcement from Baguio City, the Office of the Cadet Recruitment and Admission of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CRAAFP) revealed that Dumaguete City has been assigned Exam Code 104, joining other major Visayas testing hubs including Cebu City, Bacolod City, Iloilo City, Tagbilaran City, and Tacloban City.
The designation means that Negrense applicants no longer need to travel to distant provinces to take the rigorous PMA Entrance Examination (PMAEE) 2026, significantly reducing the logistical and financial burden on families from the region.
Email Application System Now Active
The PMA has also launched an email application channel to make the military academy more accessible to young Filipinos nationwide. According to the CRAAFP announcement, prospective cadets can now submit their complete application packages electronically.
Applicants choosing the email route must fill out and sign the official PMAEE Application Form, which can be downloaded from https://tinyurl.com/4bfz48dw or directly from the PMA website at www.pma.edu.ph.
The electronic submission must include all required supporting documents along with the completed application form. Applicants are also required to indicate their preferred examination location by writing the corresponding Exam Code and Place on their forms.
Complete Documentation Requirements
The PMA has outlined specific documentary requirements for all applicants, whether submitting via email or traditional methods. The mandatory documents include a PSA Birth Certificate, valid identification card, and academic records.
Current Senior High School students must submit SF10/Form 137, while graduates need to provide SF9/Form 138 or SF10/Form 137 to demonstrate their academic qualifications.
Those who have previously submitted requirements via email are advised to send their signed PMAEE Application Form to facilitate processing of their applications.
Strict Eligibility Standards Maintained
The military academy maintains rigorous qualification standards for prospective cadets. Applicants must be natural-born or naturalized Filipino citizens who are physically fit and possess good moral character.
Age requirements stipulate that candidates must be at least 17 years old but not more than 22 on admission day. Academic standards require Senior High School (Grade 12) completion with a general weighted average of 85% or higher.
Personal status requirements mandate that applicants must never have been married, never been pregnant, and have no legal obligation to support a child. Additionally, candidates must be free from any administrative or criminal cases.
Physical standards include a barefoot height range of 5'0" to 6'4" for both male and female applicants, ensuring uniformity within the cadet corps.
Comprehensive Examination and Testing Process
The PMA Entrance Examination covers multiple academic areas including Algebra and Geometry, Grammar and Composition, Reading and Comprehension, Verbal and Numerical Reasoning, and Pattern Analysis. This comprehensive test measures both academic readiness and problem-solving aptitude.
Beyond the written examination, applicants must pass a Complete Physical and Medical Examination conducted by the AFP Medical Board Nr 1, ensuring they meet the physical demands of military training.
The Physical Fitness Test (PFT) includes a 3.2-kilometer run, push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups for male applicants or flex-arm hang for female applicants. Candidates must also successfully complete an Aptitude for the Service Interview.
Substantial Benefits for Successful Cadets
The four-year cadetship program offers extensive benefits to those who successfully complete the rigorous training. Cadets receive free college education with a comprehensive curriculum designed to develop both military and leadership skills.
Financial benefits include Salary Grade 19 with allowances throughout the program. The academy provides exceptional training and billeting facilities, ensuring cadets receive world-class military education.
Upon graduation, cadets become commissioned officers in the Philippine Army, Navy, or Air Force, beginning progressive military careers. Outstanding graduates may compete for slots in foreign military academies, further enhancing their professional development.
The PMA emphasizes that beyond material benefits, cadets gain the privilege of serving the Filipino people, embodying the academy's century-old mission of developing military leaders.
Academy's 127th Year Theme
As the PMA marks its 127th year, the institution operates under the theme "Forging Leaders of Character while Transforming into a Globally Competitive Defense Learning Institution." This theme reflects the academy's commitment to producing world-class military officers while maintaining its core values.
The academy particularly encourages applications from provincial youth, recognizing the valuable perspectives and dedication that students from outside Metro Manila bring to the corps of cadets.
