A 15-year-old in Panglao, Bohol, has confessed to killing his mother, the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) said on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
BPPO spokesperson Maj. Joseph Lopena said the minor was identified as the suspect past 4 p.m. on Sunday, after he admitted the crime.
Argument over cutting classes
Based on the police investigation, the argument started when the mother scolded her son for cutting classes, and it escalated after she reportedly hit him. Lopena said there had been earlier arguments between mother and son. Police said the minor had earlier claimed that his mother had left for Tagbilaran.
Police said it has not yet been determined whether the crime is connected to the minor's online gaming account; the argument between mother and son remains the main angle of the investigation.
In the care of social workers
The minor is now in the custody of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office. Lopena said the Department of Social Welfare and Development will assess whether the child acted with discernment.
The 45-year-old victim had earlier been found dead in Panglao, and Bohol Governor Aris Aumentado had raised the reward for information on the case to P150,000.
