Troops from the 36th Infantry (Valor) Battalion (36IB), operating under the 401st Infantry Brigade, discovered the hidden firearms and war materiel in Sitio Bato, Barangay Bitaugan, San Miguel. Prior to the discovery of the arms cache, on March 22, 2026, troops from the 36IB neutralized two CTG members during an armed encounter in the hinterlands of Barangay Nurcia, Lanuza, Surigao del Sur.
